Families in Little Bay are in for a treat! Randwick Council is inviting the whole community to celebrate the grand reopening of Woomera Reserve Playground and Outdoor Gym on Friday 12 September 2025, from 3 pm – 4.30 pm.
This exciting community event marks the transformation of Woomera Reserve into a vibrant hub where kids can play, parents can relax, and locals of all ages can stay active.
A Playground Designed for Kids of All Ages
The new playground has been carefully designed with input from local families to make sure there’s something for everyone. Children will love exploring the all-timber play equipment, testing their skills on the balance trail, bouncing on the in-ground trampoline, and swinging high on the nest swing. Rubber soft-fall surfaces and taller shade sails provide extra comfort and safety, while more seating has been added so families can enjoy longer stays at the park.
Fitness Fun for Parents and Teens
Alongside the playground, Little Bay now boasts its first outdoor gym! The state-of-the-art setup includes a pull-down station, elliptical trainer, chest press, leg press, aerobic cycle, sit-up bench, parallel bars, and pull-up bars – suitable for all fitness levels. It’s a great chance for parents to squeeze in a workout while the kids play.
Extra Community Upgrades
The reserve’s basketball court has been revamped into an official half court with line markings, perfect for teens and families looking for a casual game.
Opening Day Celebration
The afternoon will kick off with a Welcome to Country, followed by an official opening from Randwick Mayor Dylan Parker at 3.30 pm. Families can enjoy live music, kids’ entertainment, and free sweet treats and coffee (arrive early as supplies are limited!).
