Learning Through Play (and a Little Bit of Magic)
At the heart of the experience is the Discovery Van, packed with clever technology that uses augmented reality and gamification to bring the water journey to life. Kids can follow the path water takes from rainfall to reservoirs, through treatment plants, and finally into our homes – all in a way that’s easy to understand and exciting to explore.
The tour also shines a spotlight on stormwater management, showing how rainwater runoff can impact our beaches, rivers and marine life, and why protecting our waterways starts right in our own neighbourhoods.
Meet Jila the Platypus
Little visitors will love meeting Jila the platypus, Sydney’s friendly water ambassador. Jila guides children through interactive activities designed to build water literacy, spark curiosity, and encourage simple, sustainable habits that families can take home and use every day.
From hands-on games to interactive challenges, kids will learn that small actions – like saving water at home – can make a big difference when we all work together.
