As we head towards the end of the year, it’s time to celebrate with a wonderful Christmas in The Rocks! Heading into a festive period we all truly deserve, The Rocks is putting on an unmissable show of holiday fun.
GRAB THE PERFECT GRAM AT THE ROCKS WONDERLANES
To get Sydneysiders into the Christmas spirit, The Rocks will transform into a magical wonderland featuring fun, festive holiday Wonderlanes for the first time, with holiday cheer hidden down every cobblestoned path.
Starting at Nurse’s Walk, dozens of elves have come in from all directions bringing Christmas magic to The Rocks. See how many you can spot! The magic continues up into Wells Courtyard with a gorgeous little Christmas village. Next, marvel at the five-metre-high Christmas tree towering over Jack Mundey Place, this year themed with gold, silver and champagne for the perfect Instagrammable moment. Additionally, lighting up George St at the top of the First Fleet Park stairs will be the Moët & Chandon Effervescence Christmas Tree, a sparkling gold icon inspired by the bubbles of their champagne and celebration of the holiday season. If you’re still after some festive fun, Playfair Street will be home to a giant snow globe, the perfect opportunity to up your Christmas Instagram game!
STOP BY FOR SOME FESTIVE ENTERTAINMENT
There will also be plenty of holiday entertainment and activities to enjoy throughout December, including jazzy Christmas cabaret performances every Saturday night in The Rocks Square, roving elves and angels throughout the precinct, live music on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, as well as special edition screenings of favourite Christmas classics at Laneway Cinema including Elf (December 1), A Bad Moms Christmas (December 8), The Holiday (December 15) and Love Actually (December 22). There’ll even be free Santa Paws Pet Photos every Saturday morning in December from 9am – 12pm at Circular Quay Promenade, with the iconic views of Sydney Harbour and the Opera House where your furry friend can get their very own picture with Santa!
For those after something a little sweeter, Sugar Republic has 15 immersive art exhibitions devoted to sugary sweet treats, with a Christmas kick for the holiday season. All of the existing installations will be open, including some festive activations like the Pink Christmas Forest, All The Jingle Ladies, Tinseltown, Naughty & Nice and a giant two-metre high Santa artwork by artist Travis Price. PICK UP SOMETHING SPECIAL AT THE ROCKS
Running every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in December, a special Christmas-themed iteration of The Rocks Markets will come alive with jolly fun. Get a head start on your Christmas shopping with some locally produced homewares, jewellery, art, fashion, beauty products or try some delicious street food from stalls selling freshly fried gözleme, Turkish doughnuts, okonomiyaki, vegan cookies and more!
