All Randwick City beaches reopen for swimming in time for the weekend

Coogee, Clovelly, Maroubra, Malabar and Gordons Bay beaches will reopen to the public from Saturday 19 October 2024. The five beaches, located in the Randwick City Council Local Government Area, were closed to the public during the week after thousands of ball-shaped tar debris was found. Transport for NSW Maritime today issued the all-clear for beaches to reopen saying the ball-shaped debris is not highly toxic to humans. Early morning inspections conducted today by Council’s Environmental Health Officers identified small quantities of debris still being washed ashore, much less than first appeared on Tuesday.
