Faster Rescue Access Coming to Little Bay Beach Before Summer

Randwick City Council has commenced construction on a new dedicated emergency access road to Little Bay Beach, marking an important step toward improving safety and response times at one of Sydney’s most beautiful — yet challenging — coastal spots. The project involves upgrading existing paths through The Coast Golf Club to create a direct and reliable route for ambulance, police, and Council Lifeguards. Until now, emergency crews have had to navigate narrow and uneven golf course tracks to reach the beach, often causing delays during critical incidents. Randwick Mayor Dylan Parker said the new road is a vital investment in…

Widening Little Bay beach stairs

Weekday access to Little Bay Beach will be restricted from early May 2023 for up to three months as work commences to widen the timber staircase used to access the beach. Currently, Little Bay Beach can only be formally accessed via a single set of steep, narrow timber stairs. The narrow stairs make access difficult, particularly in summer when thousands of beach goers visit the beach daily carrying beach gear, eskies, fishing rods and scuba gear. Contractors working for Council will widen the timber staircase with new Blackbutt timber treads and use existing footings to create a wider staircase, making…
