The world’s largest free-to-the-public sculpture exhibition, Sculpture by the Sea, will return to the iconic Bondi to Tamarama Beach coastal walk in 2024. Over the course of three weeks, the 2km coastal walk will be transformed into an outdoor gallery, showcasing over 100 sculptures by artists from Australia and around the world.
To enhance your experience, be sure to download the free Sculpture by the Sea app. This app offers an interactive exhibition map, artist and artwork details, the opportunity to vote for your favorite sculpture, and features for making donations and purchasing an in-app audio tour.
With an estimated 450,000 visitors expected over the 18-day exhibition, we strongly recommend using public transportto reach the event. Buses run frequently between the city and Bondi Junction, and from Bondi Junction to Bondi Beach. Given that weekends are extremely busy, visiting on a weekday is advised to avoid large crowds.
Travel Tips:
- Visit on a weekday to enjoy a more relaxed experience and avoid the weekend rush.
- Take public transport. Parking in Bondi is limited and traffic is heavy, especially on weekends. Catch a train or bus to Bondi Junction, and either take a shuttle bus or walk to the beach. Visit transportnsw.info to plan your trip.
Sculpture by the Sea first launched in 1997 as a one-day event, with 64 artists and 25,000 visitors. Since then, it has grown exponentially, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2023, having exhibited 2,691 sculptures from 1,129 artists across 51 countries. This landmark exhibition continues to attract global attention, with works from renowned artists such as Sir Anthony Caro, Sui Jian Guo, and David Černý gracing its shores.
For a memorable art experience by the sea, Sculpture by the Sea is an unmissable event in 2024.
