Celebrating women and girls in art

The Randwick Council Women’s Art Prize returns in 2026, celebrating the creativity, talent and voices of women and girls in our local community. Held in honour of International Women’s Day, this much-loved annual prize is now in its 21st year.

The award recognises the important contribution women and girls make to society while providing a powerful platform to showcase local artistic talent.

Who Can Enter the Women’s Art Prize?

The Women’s Art Prize is open to women and girls aged 12 years and over who:

  • Live, work or study in the Randwick City LGA

  • Have a strong connection to Randwick

  • Are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander women with ancestral ties to Country in the area

Entries open: 19 January – 18 February 2026
Artists should read the full terms and conditions before applying.

2026 Women’s Art Prize Categories

The prize includes four inclusive categories:

  • Local Category
    Women aged 18+ who live, work or study in the Randwick LGA

  • Youth Category
    Girls and young women aged 12–17 living in the Randwick LGA

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Category
    Celebrating local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women artists who live in the LGA or have ancestral ties to Country

  • Open Category
    Women and girls with a connection to the Randwick LGA

Women’s Art Prize Exhibition Dates

  • Randwick Town Hall
    Up to 150 artworks exhibited
    Saturday 7 March – Monday 9 March 2026

  • Lionel Bowen Library
    50 selected artworks displayed
    Thursday 12 March – Wednesday 18 March 2026

Prize Presentation & Exhibition Launch

The prize announcement and presentation will take place at the exhibition launch:
