Iman Davamoni

Each Monday we feature a local eastern suburbs mum to hear about her tips of life in the east. This week meet Iman Davamoni from Coogee.

Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east:

I’m from Brisbane originally and moved to Sydney not long after returning from a four year stint in London. I started off in Surry Hills and for the summer moved to Randwick to be close to the beach. I was there for three years and have been in Coogee now for nearly 2 years. We love being that bit closer to the ocean.

How many children:

I have a daughter, Almira, she’s 10.5 months old. Motherhood has been the most amazing journey I’ve been on. She’s brought so much colour to my world!

Favourite Park:

The park on Beach St Coogee near the Surf Life Saving Club is fantastic and has been a real hit with Almira. She loves watching the older kids run around as well as going for a swing.

Favourite Beach:

Our favourite beach is definitely Coogee. I also love the secret beaches around Vaucluse like Parsley Bay and Camp Cove. There’s so many other little beaches in the Eastern Suburbs I’m yet to explore!

Favourite kid friendly cafe:

I would have to say the Coogee Pavilion. What a brilliant venue! The space at the back for little ones is great. Our mothers group meet there on rainy days, it’s a perfect location for everyone.

Favourite Coffee Spot:

The Little Kitchen, in my opinion, has the best coffee in Coogee. We stop there a few times a week for a coffee run. We also love the coffee at Rueben Hills in Surry Hills.

Favourite date night place:

The Apollo in Potts Point is our favourite dining venue at the moment. The food is to die for! Make sure you try the saganaki cheese with honey.

Favourite Local Day Out Activity:

We love getting a takeaway breakfast and coffee, and hanging out on the grass in Coogee while Almira has a play. And if we were to venture out, we head to the Bondi Markets on a Saturday – great food, music and a perfect patch of grass to chill in the sun.

Favourite Local Shop:

Maloney’s in Coogee. They have an amazing selection of groceries and fresh produce.

Favourite wet weather location:

Lately it’s been home – keeping my daughter warm and dry!

Work or SAHM:

Neither, I’m a working from home mum. I run a business called Purely Polished, it’s a beauty on-demand business delivering manicures and pedicures to our customers homes, offices or other happy place. I was inspired to start the business not long after becoming a mum. Not being able to make it to a salon easily got me thinking that there needs to be a better option. So I got a team of amazing Nail Technicians together and created Purely Polished! All the polishes we use are between 5 and 8 free of the major toxins usually found in nail polishes.

We also use beautifully organic and 100% natural products such as foot soaks, coffee scrubs and deep moisturising lotions. Perfect for pregnant and new mums. We’ve got a pop up mani bar at the One Fine Baby fair from 12-14 August and then at the One Fine Day Wedding fair on 3 September, so come check us out!

Motherly advice :

If I was to give one piece of advice it would be to make things easy for yourself – do your grocery shopping online, organise a weekly fruit and veg delivery, get help with the cleaning, all of this will not only help you manage your chores but also give you more time to spend with your loved ones!
