Hi, I’m Emma. I’m a natural light family and wedding photographer. I started my business Emma Hampton Photography over 10 years ago. It’s a dream come true to capture cherished moments around the Eastern suburbs and beyond.
My husband Dan and I have been together for 19 years and married for 15! We love the beach, eating out, drinking good wine, eating delicious food and travelling.I grew up in Young, the cherry capital of Australia!!! A country girl at heart but love the beach and living in the East, I could never move back. Dan and I worked in hospitality for some years and had a little pop-up bar in Coogee about 12 years ago.
Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east?
I’ve lived in the Eastern Suburbs since 2007. We called Coogee home for many years until last year when we bought our first home in Little Bay.
Three words that describe what it’s like to live in the eastern suburbs?
Fun, Beachy, Friendly
How many children?
We have two girls. Georgie 8 and Evie 6. Georgie is very outgoing, and such a lovely caring big sister. Evie can be a little quieter but very strong-willed. She loves her big sister, and she tends to be the one that calls all the shots.
Favourite Park?
We call it the swirly whirly park but its official name is Inglis Park at Randwick. It’s the bomb! The kids love it and so do I.
Favourite Beach?
This is a tough one as we lived in Coogee for such a long time it has a very special place in our hearts but I’m going to say Little Bay, with Coogee is a close second.
Favourite kid friendly cafe:?
You can’t go past the Coogee Pavilion when you’ve got the kiddos. Ticks all the boxes for the parents and the kids. Win-Win!
Favourite Coffee Spot?
Bohaus Cafe in Coogee. Hands down the best coffee in town
Favourite date night place?
Maybe Frank at the Spot. Their pizza and red wine is delicious.
Where in the east have you yet to explore and would like to?
Bondi. We never go there so head over there go for a swim and check out some cafes.
What would you like to see improve in the eastern suburbs?
Perhaps some more community family events.
Favourite Local Shop?
By San Sebastian. I’m not a big fan of shopping but these guys make it so easy. A one-stop shop. I love it!
Favourite wet weather location?
The Ritz in Randwick. Nothing beats popcorn and a movie on a wet day.
Favourite Local family Weekend Activity?
We are beach bums. So we’ll head down to the beach. If not the beach we’ll go for a family walk along the coast. There are so many beautiful coastal walks around the east.
Work or SAHM?
Work. I started my business just before I started my family over 10 years ago. There was and still is a lot of juggling that goes on when you have your own business. I’m grateful that I have found a career I can fit into motherhood. It works for our little family and I just love what I do.
Motherly advice?
It’s ok to say no, don’t feel like you have to say yes to everything.
