Hi, I’m Beryl, a proud mum and entrepreneur based in Sydney’s stunning eastern suburbs.  Originally from South Africa but lucky to have called Sydney home for the past 30 years. My professional journey started in corporate HR, where I worked in global roles for over 20 years. Today, I run BondiAssistant, a virtual assistant service tailored for passionate business owners. I’m also passionate about health and wellbeing, and Koi Holistic Health has been an integral part of my wellness journey.  My husband, Rand, and I have two wonderful sons, Josh and Tyler, who continue to inspire us every day. Family is at the heart of everything I do, and when I’m not working, I love playing tennis with Queens of Aces and at Ruschcutters Bay tennis courts, hosting family gatherings, and finding hidden gems in our vibrant community.

Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east?

I’ve been lucky to call Sydney’s eastern suburbs home for the last 3.5 years. The coastal lifestyle, friendly community, and cultural diversity make it truly special.

Three words that describe what it’s like to live in the eastern suburbs?

Vibrant, Coastal, Welcoming.

How many children?

Two grown-up sons, Josh and Tyler, who inspire us every day. Both have graduated as engineers from prestigious Sydney universities and continue to amaze us with their achievements and determination.

Favourite Park? 

Yarranabbee Park – it’s a tranquil spot close to home with fresh sea air, yachts moored in the harbour, and a stunning view of the bridge and vast harbour expanse. I love spending time there with my family and friends, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere, and watching the gorgeous puppy dogs enjoying the open space. It’s the perfect place to relax and take in the beauty of the eastern suburbs.

Favourite Beach?

Bondi Beach – it’s iconic for a reason, and nothing beats an early morning walk along the sand.

Favourite kids-friendly cafe? 

Juno and Sons – Terry is incredibly friendly and welcoming, always making us feel right at home. The treats are exceptional – tasty, wonderfully crafted, and of the highest quality. It’s a fantastic spot for families to gather and indulge in some deliciousness.

Favourite Coffee Spot? 

Rushcutters Tennis Cafe – the food is delicious, and the service is outstanding. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a coffee in the open space, surrounded by fresh air and great views. Plus, they offer extras for children and pets, making it a wonderful spot for the whole family.

Favourite date night place?

Icebergs Dining Room – the view, the ambiance, and the food are unbeatable for a special night out.

Where in the east have you yet to explore and would like to go?  

Nielsen Park and Strickland House – I’m excited to explore the newly renovated area. It’s such a beautiful spot with rich history, and I’ve heard it offers breathtaking views and peaceful surroundings.

What would you like to see improve in the eastern suburbs?

More family-friendly community events and better parking solutions would make a big difference!

Favourite Local Shop? 

Rivareno Gelato – their gelato is absolutely divine, and it’s the perfect treat to enjoy while strolling through the area. The flavours are always fresh and delicious, making it a go-to spot for a sweet indulgence.

Favourite wet weather location? 

Woollahra Library at Double Bay – it’s such a cozy and peaceful spot to spend time when the weather isn’t great. The space is bright and welcoming, perfect for reading, relaxing, or enjoying a quiet moment.

Favourite Local family Weekend Activity? 

A mix of tennis, pizza from our local pizza shop, enjoying the open space at Rushcutters Park, and visiting the local art galleries. It’s the perfect way to spend time together as a family—having fun, soaking in the beauty of the area, and exploring inspiring creative spaces.

I’m a working mum, running my business, BondiAssistant, which I founded to help business owners reclaim their time for living and focus on what truly matters.
