Experience the majestic Royal Botanic Garden Sydney in a brand-new light when the international sensation, Lightscape, illuminates the senses from 24 May to 15 June as part of Vivid Sydney 2024, the Southern Hemisphere’s leading multi-artform festival.
Reimagined for 2024, the globally renowned Lightscape phenomenon of light, colour and sound will dazzle visitors with all-new lightworks and installations by local and international artists.
Tickets are now on sale for the popular immersive experience which enjoyed a sell-out season at Vivid Sydney in 2023.
Lightscape will light up the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney when the sun goes down, turning it into an all-ages technicolour wonderland designed to highlight the park’s unique landscape.
Presented by Vivid Sydney and Sony Music Entertainment, Lightscape reveals moments of wonder to share with everyone.
Visitors can wander beneath gravity-defying dandelions in Light a Wish or the suspended flowers of Floraison, marvel at the glowing Neon Outline Trees or Blossom’s light blooms, be mesmerised by Trapezoid and delight in the beloved Winter Cathedral.
The self-guided Lightscape follows an illuminated 1.8km trail through the harbourside botanic garden, under colourful canopies, through dynamic, glowing tunnels and alongside technicolour trees stretching up from the undergrowth.
Vivid Sydney Festival Director Gill Minervini said “”Vivid Sydney 2024 is diving deep into what makes us uniquely human, designed to foster connections, spark imagination and showcase the multitude of ways creativity enriches our lives. We are so excited to welcome back Lightscape to Vivid Sydney 2024 to showcase this through the reimagined activation at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney. You do not want to miss out on Vivid Sydney 2024!”
Chair & CEO of Sony Music Australia and New Zealand Vanessa Picken said “Lightscape has captivated audiences of all ages from the US to UK and throughout Australia. Its highly anticipated return to Sydney will bring with it all-new lightworks, soundtracks and immersive experiences”.
Culture Creative Managing Director Zoe Bottrell said the company was delighted to work with Sony Music Entertainment on a reimagined Lightscape trail for its second Sydney season.
“Each Lightscape trail that Culture Creative designs and builds is unique and we know the trail we’ve produced for Sydney this year will enchant new audiences as part of Vivid Sydney, and charm those who attended last year,” Ms Bottrell said.
Food and drink are available to purchase along the trail. Lightscape is suitable for all ages and is wheelchair and stroller accessible.
