The construction of the new shade structure at Heffron Park’s netball courts is moving forward with substantial progress, bringing much-anticipated amenities closer to completion. The project has reached a critical milestone, with the first three shaded courts expected to be ready by the end of November—a development eagerly awaited by players and visitors alike.

The main frame of the shade structure is now firmly in place, creating a visible change in the landscape and providing a glimpse of the enhanced facilities to come. Installation of the shade fabric is also underway, a key component that will provide sun protection for players and spectators. This fabric has been selected for its durability, ensuring the shade structure will withstand the elements for years to come.

In addition to the shade canopy, several other improvements are on the horizon, aiming to boost both the functionality and comfort of the netball area. A 3-meter-wide footpath along the southern end of the courts is set to be finalized, enhancing accessibility for pedestrians and spectators. Surrounding turf will also be restored, contributing to a well-maintained and green environment around the courts.

Further upgrades include a fresh playing surface and new line markings, bringing the courts up to top standards for community games and local tournaments. To support players and visitors, a new water refill station will be installed, promoting hydration and reducing single-use plastic bottle waste.

Finally, gutters and downpipes will be fitted to manage rainwater effectively, adding to the structure’s durability and longevity. These additions not only make the shade structure more functional but also more sustainable by managing rain runoff and protecting the courts.

As Heffron Park nears the completion of these courts, the new shade structure is poised to become a valuable addition to the community, offering protection from the sun and an improved playing experience for all.
