For one magical weekend, Bondi Beach is transforming into a living, breathing underwater world as giant marine puppets, deep sea divers and roaming performers bring the shoreline to life. Created by the much-loved theatre company Erth, this free beachside experience invites families to slow down, look up and watch the magic drift past.
Picture this: shimmering schools of fish gliding along the promenade, towering sea creatures moving through the crowd and performers animating the Pavilion and beachfront with colour, movement and storytelling. It’s the kind of moment where kids stop mid-ice-cream, eyes wide, and parents find themselves just as mesmerised.
The best part? You don’t need tickets to enjoy the roving performances. Simply turn up, find a spot along the promenade or near Bondi Pavilion and let the magic come to you.

For families who want more than just watching from the sidelines, there’s an opportunity to become part of the performance.
Erth is offering hands-on workshops where children (and grown-ups too) can step into the world of puppetry. Over 40 interactive minutes, participants will explore movement, teamwork and creativity as they help bring sea creatures to life. Together, you’ll create a dazzling school of fish before taking them on a joyful “swim” along Bondi Beach — finishing with a shared performance alongside Erth’s spectacular professional puppets.
It’s playful, creative and confidence-boosting, and a wonderful way for kids to experience performance without pressure. Workshops are suitable for ages 5 years and up, and numbers are limited, so registration is essential.
