For many families, choosing the right school is about more than academic results – it’s about finding a place where your daughter will grow in confidence, develop meaningful relationships and discover who she is.

At St Vincent’s College, one way this belief comes to life is through our Year 9 Endeavouring experience – a nine-day immersive journey into the heart of Far West New South Wales that is as transformative as it is memorable.

Stepping away from the pace and familiarity of city life, our students travel to Broken Hill and surrounding outback landscapes, where learning takes on a different rhythm. Here, under vast skies and in ancient environments, they are invited to slow down, reflect and connect – with themselves, with others and with the world around them.

There are moments in a young person’s education that cannot be measured by grades or captured in a classroom. They are felt. They are lived. And often, they arrive quietly – in the stillness of a desert sunrise, in the laughter around a campfire, or in the simple yet powerful act of being fully present.

Endeavouring is built around the concepts of Sensing, Experiencing and Savouring – encouraging students to notice deeply, engage fully and reflect meaningfully. Whether participating in fieldwork at Fowlers Gap, exploring the rich history of Silverton, or sharing stories around a campfire during the Camel Expedition, students are challenged to step outside their comfort zones and embrace new perspectives.

Importantly, this experience is not just about where they go –  it’s about who they are becoming.

In a world where young people are often navigating pressure, busyness and constant connection, Endeavouring offers something rare: the opportunity to disconnect in order to reconnect. It supports students to build resilience, strengthen friendships and develop a deeper sense of purpose and belonging.

This journey continues into Year 10 through our SSE-ydney programme, where students return to the city with fresh eyes –  applying the same principles of sensing, experiencing and savouring to the world around them. It is a powerful continuum of learning that prepares students not only for school, but for life.

At St Vincent’s College, we are proud to offer experiences that extend beyond the classroom and nurture the whole person – academically, socially and emotionally.
