Looking to keep the family entertained on a Saturday night?

Waverley Council’s bumper Movies in the Park series is returning for a third year, so you can enjoy family film nights under the stars. Delight your children with entertainment on the big screen, without the pinch of tickets to the cinema.

Running across April and May, Movies in the Park invites residents and their families to gather in Waverley’s picturesque parks for an evening of entertainment, connection and feel-good films at no cost.

To make sure guests get the full movie experience, there will also be free popcorn to munch on.

For those families after something a bit more substantial around dinnertime, BYO picnics are allowed.

However, in keeping with the theme of family friendly fun, please note these events are alcohol and glass free.

The program features a lineup of recent blockbuster children’s flicks, which have been selected with grownups also in mind so that everybody is entertained.

Movies will be screened at different parks across Waverley to ensure nobody misses out.

  • Saturday, 4 April at 6 pm, Varna Park: Sing 2 (2024)
  • Saturday, 11 April at 5 pm, Waverley Park: Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024)
  • Saturday, 18 April at 5 pm, Kimberley Reserve: Paddington in Peru (2024)
  • Saturday, 2 May at 5 pm, Bondi Pavilion: How To Train Your Dragon (2025)

There will be free popcorn at all screenings, and attendees are welcome (and encouraged) to bring their own picnic, blankets, or a low-lying chair. Enjoy an evening of free entertainment for all the family under the stars.

No bookings or tickets required, but moviegoers are encouraged to arrive early or on time to get their best pick of seat.

Screenings are scheduled to align with sunset, with opening credits rolling as day turns to night.

In the event of wet weather, updates will be posted to Council’s Instagram and Facebook.

So, pack some snacks, grab a blanket and join us under the stars for a series of great movies, community and the great outdoors.

The fun of the movies without the price tag, fresh air and quality time with the family? That’s Autumn in Waverley!
