Calling All Photographers and Ocean Enthusiasts! Enter the Love the Coast Photo Competition
Are you passionate about capturing the beauty and spirit of our local coastlines? Do you have an eye for the magic that happens where land meets sea? Then this is your chance to share your unique vision! The Love the Coast competition is calling on photographers of all ages who cherish our coastal and marine environments to grab their cameras, head outdoors—or even venture underwater—and capture what makes our shores so extraordinary.
Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or a budding enthusiast, we want to see the coast through your lens! With categories that celebrate our connection to nature, the mesmerizing underwater landscapes, and the vibrant life along our shores, there’s a space for everyone’s perspective. Acclaimed photographer Petrina Hicks will judge entries, and the top 20 photographs will be showcased in a community exhibition at Waverley Library, culminating in a final exhibition at the Bondi Pavilion’s Yalagang Room.
Not only will the Love the Coast overall winner take home $300, but they’ll also enjoy a private session with Petrina to review their work and discuss their artistic journey. Prizes also include $150 for the runner-up and $200 for the People’s Choice Award.

Love the Coast invites entries across the following categories:
- Living Connections –how people connect with local nature and/or each other in nature.
- Marine Landscape – local underwater environments, with or without people.
Acclaimed photographer Petrina Hicks will judge photos. The best 20 photos will be exhibited at the Waverley Library before the final exhibition at the Bondi Pavilion – Yalagang Room.
Prizes include:
- The Love the Coast overall winner will receive $300, and a private session with Petrina to review your work and portfolio.
- The Love the Coast runner-up will receive $150.
- The People Choice Award winner will receive $200 for the picture voted the best, by the public.
Submissions open 2 November 2024 and close on 17 January 2025.
