Dog Days Out is coming to Varna Park on Saturday 12 September, bringing together local families, dog lovers and their furry companions for a fun morning of activities, useful advice and community connection.
Running from 10am to 1pm, the event is a great excuse to get outside, meet other local dog owners and perhaps learn a thing or two about keeping your pup happy and healthy.
Free Health Checks for Your Dog
One of the highlights of Dog Days Out is the opportunity to connect with a local veterinary clinic for a free health check-up.
It’s a handy chance to ask questions about your dog’s general health and wellbeing while you’re enjoying the day.
There will also be educational sessions covering canine behaviour, health, wellbeing and responsible pet ownership – useful whether you’ve recently welcomed a puppy into the family or have had dogs for years.
There’s Fun for the Kids Too
Dog Days Out isn’t only about the dogs.
Waverley Council’s Library team will be running arts and crafts, giving kids something creative to get involved in while families enjoy the event.
With interactive activities and plenty of dogs around, it’s an easy local outing for animal-loving kids.
And let’s face it – for some children, simply meeting all the different dogs will probably be the highlight.

Anyone who regularly walks a dog around the Eastern Suburbs knows that dogs have a funny way of introducing their humans to each other.
Dog Days Out is a chance to meet fellow local pet owners and families, swap a few dog stories and connect with people from around the neighbourhood.

A Quick Note About Dogs at Varna Park
Half of Varna Park is designated as a dog off-leash area, so there’s an opportunity for dogs to enjoy a little extra freedom.
Owners are asked to be mindful of other park users and to keep dogs away from the playground and fitness station.
As with any event involving lots of animals, keep an eye on your dog’s body language and give other dogs plenty of space when needed.
