Darling Harbour’s new Tumbalong Park Sound Shell and Palm Grove will transform into an Olympics and Paralympics Live Site. From Saturday, 27 July – Sunday 11 August visit Tumbalong Park for the Olympics, and from Wednesday, 28 August – Sunday 8 September head to Palm Grove to view the Paralympics. Bringing the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to Sydney, everyone is welcome to gather and to cheer on the Australian team.
Throughout the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games from 12pm – 11pm, daily visitors can expect back to back sporting action on the big screens at Tumbalong Park. Completely free of charge, Sydneysiders and visitors can head to the harbourside precinct to watch live broadcasts and celebrate the spirit of the Games. Hungry fans can grab a bite to-go from food trucks on site or from the many delicious food and drink options all over the precinct.
To celebrate every Aussie win, Darling Harbour’s eateries will also be joining in on the Olympic spirit. Every time Australia takes home a gold medal, the first 50 people to visit the Darling Harbour Live Site the following day at 1pm will receive a voucher they can redeem with one of their local retail partners.
Beyond the live broadcasts, Darling Harbour is giving visitors the opportunity to truly channel their Olympic spirit with sport festivities and a whole day dedicated to celebrating the Green and Gold. On Friday 2 August, at 12.30pm – 1.30pm and 6pm – 7pm, bring your best green and gold attire as the festivities come to a head for Green and Gold Day, featuring Australian sports musical bingo with James Breko.
With only eight years to go until Brisbane becomes the host of the Games, Darling Harbour is the perfect place to participate in the Australian Olympic Committee’s ‘Have A Go’ Olympic Challenge’. Ignite your Olympic dream and participate in various sports activations like gymnastics, rowing, athletics and more. After you’ve battled against your friends for gold, snap a photo to ‘commemorate your very own win at the Darling Harbour podium and photo wall.
To top off an already electrifying atmosphere, visitors can also expect vibrant roving performers, musicians around Tumbalong Park and fun Olympic style games for the whole family.
The new sound shell at Tumbalong Park, opposite the International Convention Centre is Sydney’s first major purpose-built, live outdoor community venue in the heart of the city.
