There’s never been a better time to celebrate New Year’s Eve as a family in Sydney post-lockdown, with COVID crowd restrictions meaning Aussies won’t be jostling for prime harbourfront positio
With as many as 45,000 people attending events in the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney pre-COVID, this year’s crowd figures are capped at 28,000 across all seven events.
Coupled with international visitors no longer making up the bulk of the crowds, families will get the harbour to themselves to watch the 9pm and midnight fireworks spectaculars.
After a stressful period of lockdowns and home schooling, families will be able to enjoy a sensory adventure on their harbour-side picnic, revelling in the beautiful location at Mrs Macquaries Point, overlooking the Harbour Bridge, Fort Denison and the Opera House with the best seats in town.
Not only does the Garden offer some of the best vantage points in town, there’s also a wide range of food and beverage packages and bars to help people celebrate.
Two of the five events at the Garden are affordable for families looking for a special way to ring in the New Year, with Harbour View Gold and Silver packages starting at $40. These laidback New Year’s Eve events are within Mrs Macquarie’s Point, a large open space where people can relax from 11am and enjoy some of Sydney’s most famous food trucks ahead of the 9pm display.
Every New Year’s Eve ticket purchased will go towards supporting important science, horticulture and conservation work, to ensure The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney continues to house wonderful plants and living collections.
