Looking for a unique and educational school holiday activity that’s also completely free? Why not take the kids on a little cultural adventure and celebrate Bastille Day with Randwick City Council at the historic La Perouse Headland!

On Monday 14 July at 9:30am, families are invited to attend a special Bastille Day civic ceremony at the Lapérouse Monument, commemorating the French National Day. Bastille Day marks the anniversary of the Storming of the Bastille in 1789—a key moment in the French Revolution and a celebration of French history, culture, and pride.

This is a perfect opportunity to introduce your little ones to a bit of history in a beautiful outdoor setting by the sea. The ceremony will include speeches, wreath laying, and for the highlight of the morning—a dramatic firing of the historic cannons, scheduled between 10:15 and 10:30am (the kids will love this part!).

🪑 Please note: Seating will be reserved for official guests, but there’s plenty of standing room for families to enjoy the event.
🏛️ The La Perouse Museum will be closed on the day due to ongoing refurbishments.

Pack a picnic, bring the pram or scooters, and enjoy a morning out soaking up culture, history, and fresh air in one of Sydney’s most scenic coastal spots.
