early learning in a warm, community-focused environment. Designed with
sustainability and children’s wellbeing in mind, our purpose-built centre offers a safe,
nurturing space where every child is known, valued, and supported to thrive.
SHNC Long Day Care & Preschool is a small, not-for-profit centre that has proudly
supported families in the Surry Hills community since 2010. We offer a welcoming,
inclusive environment and provide high-quality early childhood education and care to
local children.
Licensed for 25 children per session, our centre is divided into two
age-based rooms: one for babies and infants (6 months to 2 years) and one for
toddlers and preschoolers (2 to 5 years). We operate under a philosophy of open
management and are governed by a volunteer Governance Board.
Located in the heart of Surry Hills, our purpose-built facility is thoughtfully designed
to promote children’s safety and wellbeing. The space includes two open-plan indoor
rooms and a vibrant outdoor area with a retractable roof for year-round play. Children
can explore the sandpit, ride bikes, and care for a mini vegetable garden. The
building also reflects our commitment to sustainability, incorporating natural light,
recycled water systems, and environmentally friendly materials.
