As we bid farewell to the 2024 winter solstice and the days start to feel longer, our community’s focus shifts to the upcoming summer season. In preparation for a summer filled with ocean fun, the council has announced the closure of Bronte Pool during the remaining winter period for planned maintenance.

Essential Maintenance for Safety and Longevity

These closures are crucial to allow for necessary repairs that ensure the pool remains safe and functional for all community members to enjoy both now and in the future. During this period, the council will be undertaking extensive pool lining removal works. The existing pool lining, which has delaminated from the pool shell, poses a significant safety risk to users and will be completely removed. Additionally, spot repairs to the pool’s shell will be carried out to address any underlying issues.

Scheduled Works

The maintenance work is set to commence on Monday, July 8, and will continue throughout the winter months. This timing is intended to minimize disruption to the community and ensure the pool is in top condition for the busy summer season ahead.

Alternative Swimming Options

For those who enjoy winter swimming, there are plenty of alternative ocean pool facilities available in the eastern suburbs. These include:

  • Clovelly Ocean Pool (Clovelly)
  • Wiley’s Baths (Coogee)
  • Mahon Pool (Maroubra)
  • Icebergs Pool (Bondi)

These nearby facilities offer excellent alternatives to Bronte Pool, ensuring that swimmers can continue their routines without interruption.

Change Room Refurbishments

In addition to the pool maintenance, the council will also be refurbishing the male change rooms at Bronte Pool. These refurbishments will take place from July 1-7, just before the pool maintenance begins, to ensure that all amenities are safe, clean, and up to date.

Looking Forward

The council’s decision to close Bronte Pool for these essential works reflects a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality for all community facilities. By addressing these issues now, the council aims to ensure that Bronte Pool remains a beloved and well-maintained asset for years to come.

We appreciate the community’s understanding and patience during this period of necessary maintenance and look forward to welcoming everyone back to an improved and safer Bronte Pool this summer.
