Calling 9-12 year old kids for a 3 Day Drama, Film Acting, Improvisation, and Theatre Sports Workshop!
Over 3 days kids will do theatre sports, improvise and write theatre scenes, film and act scenes on camera—and on the third day, the workshop will culminate in a hybrid event where participants will showcase their creations through both a screening and a live stage performance!
Participants will improve their acting and public speaking abilities, enhance their voice and breath control, learn to trust their own ideas, and most importantly – have fun!
The structured yet flexible environment encourages maximum autonomy and independence in creativity, all while being guided by the experienced hands of our instructors.
WHAT IS BONDI PERFORMING ARTS?
BPA is a state of the art performing arts school that has been set up in Bondi which means Eastern Suburbs parents have somewhere close and convenient for their children to attend acting classes, while being provided the opportunity for high quality classes with reasonable fees. It is also a multi-discipline school that teaches screen and stage acting, theatre sports, scriptwriting, improvisation, public speaking, singing, movement, and builds confidence in students by pushing them beyond their comfort zones.
WHO ARE WE?
Though our performing arts school is new, it is led by experienced founders and instructors, Dr. Nicholas Flanagan and Allison Butler. Nicholas Flanagan, a NIDA graduate and former lecturer with teaching stints at WAAPA and VCA, brings a wealth of professional experience from film, television, and theatre. He is a published playwright, experienced actor, and produced screenwriter, which anchors students in high-quality, experienced mentorship. He also recently completed his PhD in screenwriting. Allison Butler, who completed the Journey Program at the Actor Centre Australia, is an accomplished actor, singer, stand-up comedian, and was nominated for Best in Musical Theatre & Cabaret at the 2022 Sydney Fringe Festival. Her diverse skills and dynamic teaching style enrich our program. Both instructors are WWCC certified, ensuring a safe and professional learning environment.
OUR ETHOS
BPA is committed to fostering maximum creativity in our students by encouraging independent thinking and granting them the autonomy to create, write, and perform. We equip them with a solid grounding in essential craft disciplines, including breathing regimes for singing and voice, articulation, movement skills on stage, improvisation, stagecraft, camera acting skills, and public speaking. These elements work together to build confidence and empower students to create, explore their imaginations and perform their own material. All the while, they are mentored in these craft disciplines, ensuring they have the support and guidance needed to excel.

When:The 3 day holiday workshop is from the 17th-19th of July from 9.30am-3.30pm.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES AND WEEKLY PROGRAMS
We also offer after-school acting classes, including a Wednesday 4pm session for 9-12 year olds at the North Bondi Scout Hall.
Under the guidance of Nicholas Flanagan, a playwright, our students have the unique opportunity to perform scripts specifically crafted by Nicholas to highlight their individual personalities and strengths.
Nicholas also offers one-on-one tuition for Year 12 ATAR Individual Projects.
As we plan to expand, we’re gathering interest for new classes for 7-8-year-olds and additional drama sessions for 9-12 year olds on Thursdays, as well as public speaking courses for both children and adults, drawing on Nicholas’s deep experience in coaching business professionals in communication.
