Bondi Park sits behind the curve of world-famous Bondi Beach and offers a spacious, grassy escape from the sand. Families can make a day of it with a large playground at the northern end, an outdoor gym and a dedicated beach volleyball area. Four free barbecue stations provide a spot for lunch, and the historic Bondi Pavilion offers dining, entertainment and access to change rooms and showers.
A few steps away is the Bondi Skate Park, a world-class bowl and street course that began as two ramps in 1991 and was transformed after a major community-driven renovation in 2004. It’s now one of Australia’s largest and best skate parks, perfect for confident skaters and scooters. Surrounding facilities include the North Bondi Outdoor Gym, Wally Weekes tidal pool and North Bondi Children’s Pool. Toilets are available at the pavilion and both ends of the beach, and accessible ramps, beach matting and wheelchairs ensure everyone can enjoy the sand.
Family tip: Bring swimmers and arrive early on a warm day. Start at the playground and barbecue area before walking the promenade to the pools for a refreshing dip. Older kids and teens can test their skills at the skate park while younger ones splash in the children’s pool. Finish with an ice cream at the pavilion and a stroll along Campbell Parade.
Fitness tip: Bondi’s outdoor gym equipment and long foreshore path make it an excellent spot for a workout. Try interval training between the playground and Ben Buckler headland, then cool off with laps at Wally Weekes Pool or a swim at Bondi Beach. There are also beach volleyball nets if you want to join a game.
Fun fact: Bondi Skate Park is so iconic that professional skaters from around the world come to ride its bowl. The facility’s 2004 upgrade, driven by local skaters and the broader community, turned a pair of simple ramps into one of the most famous skate parks in Australia.
