Looking for something a little different to do in the local area? Step into a world of literature, music and Irish charm at the Bondi Bloomfest Launch, hosted by Waverley Library on Friday, 30 May 2025 from 6pm to 7pm (doors open at 5:50pm).

This free event kicks off a vibrant cultural celebration dedicated to legendary Irish author James Joyce and his iconic novel Ulysses. While Joyce is typically celebrated around the world on 16 June—the date on which the events of Ulyssestake place—Bondi Bloomfest offers a local twist with a weekend full of engaging performances, music, and readings right here in the Eastern Suburbs.

The launch event at Waverley Library is your sneak peek into the weekend to come, featuring live music, dramatic readings, and a special talk from visiting Irish author Mary Morrissey, who will share from her novel Penelope Unbound, inspired by Joyce’s work.

It’s set to be an exciting evening for literature lovers, culture seekers, and anyone keen to enjoy a lively community gathering with a creative twist. Light refreshments will be served, and free parking is available onsite—making it an easy and enjoyable outing.
