Got a young artist at home? These spring school holidays, kids can get creative at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf — and they could even see their own sculpture exhibited in the Gallery.
Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf is inviting young creators aged 5 to 12 to think small and dream big with the launch of the inaugural Woollahra Super Small Sculpture Prize, alongside a series of hands-on Super Small Sculpture Workshopsduring the spring school holidays.
Whether your child is constantly making things at home, loves experimenting with art or simply wants to try something completely different these holidays, this is a wonderful opportunity to turn an idea into something three-dimensional.
And the best part? No previous art experience is required.
A Sculpture Prize Just for Kids
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize, Woollahra Gallery has created a special version for its youngest artists.
The inaugural Woollahra Super Small Sculpture Prize is free to enter and open to children aged 5–12 years.
The challenge is simple: create an original, freestanding sculpture measuring no more than 15cm × 15cm × 15cm, including its base or stand.
Kids can let their imaginations take over, experiment with different materials and create something that’s completely their own.
Two Age Categories + $500 in Prizes
There are two categories:
- Ages 5–8: $200 prize
- Ages 9–12: $200 prize
- Viewers’ Choice Award: $100
Each child can submit one original artwork, with finalists and the two age-category winners selected on merit and originality.
And there’s another exciting element for young artists: selected finalists won’t just have their work viewed online.
Their sculptures will be exhibited at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf from 4–29 November 2026, alongside the celebrations surrounding the Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize.
Entries opened Monday 21 September and close Tuesday 13 October 2026.

Need Some Inspiration? Join a School Holiday Workshop
If your child doesn’t quite know where to start — or simply loves getting creative — Woollahra Gallery is also running Super Small Sculpture Workshops throughout the spring school holidays.
Led by practising artist Christian Bonett, each three-hour workshop takes children through the creative process, from that first little spark of an idea to creating an original sculpture.
Children will experiment with materials, explore different shapes and forms and learn new ways of expressing their ideas through sculpture.
The workshops are designed for children aged 5–12, and no previous art experience is needed.
Six Workshops During the School Holidays
Workshops will be held at the Cultural Hub at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf, 548 New South Head Road, Double Bay.
