
Looking for a relaxed, inspiring place to work on your art and connect with other creatives? Whether you’re a seasoned artist, a casual sketcher, or just beginning your creative journey, Thirdspace Art Studio at Lionel Bowen Library in Maroubra is the perfect spot to nurture your talent.
Held fortnightly on Fridays from 9:30am to 12:00pm, this self-managed studio program invites you to bring your own materials and immerse yourself in a friendly community of artists. It’s a chance to create at your own pace, share ideas, and enjoy the energy of a shared creative space—all without pressure or formal instruction.
Best of all? It’s free for Library members, but bookings are essential as places are limited. Whether you’re painting, sculpting, drawing, or experimenting with mixed media, Thirdspace is a place to express yourself and feel at home in your creativity.

- Frequency: Every 2 weeks on Friday, until Dec 19, 2025
- Location: Lionel Bowen Library, 669-673 Anzac Parade, Maroubra
- The Thirdspace art studio will be open once a fortnight for you to bring your own materials* (whether it’s watercolour, acrylics, charcoal, drawing, pastels, clay or anything else) and join a community of creatives to make, share and engage with each other’s work.
Please note: This is a self-managed program. We provide the space for you to create and self-direct your art. *Limited materials may be provided.
Bookings:
The event is free for Library members. Bookings are essential online. You must book in for each session you wish to attend. Bookings will open two weeks prior to each session. Subject to Terms and Conditions listed below. Enquiries: 9093 6400.

- You must be a Library member to attend. Library membership is free and you can sign up at any branch or online today.
- Bookings are essential and spaces are limited.
- Participants must bring their own art materials, i.e. acrylics, charcoal, pastels etc.
- If you are unable to attend the session, please cancel your ticket as soon as possible.
- The ticket is not transferable.
- Patrons who fail to comply with the Terms and Conditions set out above will have their tickets cancelled.
- Your attendance at events supported by Randwick City Council may be digitally recorded through photographs and/or video recordings. Images may be used for promotional purposes on council’s websites, publications, social media or by newspapers. By attending this session you agree to these terms. If you do not wish your image to be published, please notify staff before the event.
