For many parents, childcare is not a neat nine-to-five equation. A meeting runs late, a school pick-up falls through, a regular carer is unavailable or a much-needed date night suddenly becomes possible. Childcare app NannyLane Australia has been created for those moments, helping families find trusted nannies for regular, casual or last-minute care through one easy-to-use platform.
Founded by Sydney parents Julie and Patrick Menary, NannyLane grew from the couple’s own experience of trying to coordinate work and family life with four children. The idea took shape after Patrick was unexpectedly delayed at work while Julie was home with their sleeping newborn, leaving the family without anyone available to collect their older children from school. It was a familiar parenting problem, but one without a simple solution.
“We wanted to create something that reflected the way families actually live,” Julie says. “Plans change, work runs over and parents do not always have weeks to organise extra support. NannyLane gives families another way to find care that suits their schedule, while keeping trust and safety at the centre.”
Through the app, parents can look for nannies who are available immediately, arrange care in advance or create recurring bookings for ongoing routines. Families can filter profiles according to factors such as experience, availability, language and care preferences, then manage communication and payments within the platform.

Safety was a priority from the outset. Nanny profiles include identity and Working With Children Check verification, alongside ratings, reviews and credentials. The app also offers secure in-app messaging, payment processing and live location tracking during relevant bookings, giving parents greater visibility while care is underway.
For families who find a nanny who works well with their children, the platform is also designed to make continuity easier. Parents can rebook preferred carers, manage upcoming sessions and receive notifications about booking details in one place. Nannies can set their own availability and hourly rate, manage requests and communicate with families through the app.
Patrick says the goal was not simply to make finding a nanny faster, but to create a more transparent experience for both families and carers: “From day one, our focus has been on safety, flexibility and affordability,” Patrick said. “If a feature didn’t genuinely make life easier for families or carers, it simply didn’t belong on the platform.”
NannyLane is free to download, with standard booking features available without a subscription and an optional premium plan for additional benefits. It is available across Australia on iOS and Android, giving parents another practical option when family life does not go to plan, or when they simply need reliable support to make the week work.
