Spark + Workshop

Looking for a magical way to wrap up the school holidays? Head to Bondi Pavilion on Saturday 18 July for Spark, a free family event that combines creativity, giant illuminated puppets and an unforgettable sunset procession to Bondi Beach.

Perfect for children and families, Spark begins with a hands-on puppet-making workshop before transforming into a spectacular outdoor performance that will light up Bondi’s winter evening.

Create Your Own Spark Puppet

The afternoon kicks off with the Spark Workshop, where children can unleash their creativity by designing and building their own unique “Spark” puppet.

During the workshop, young creators will also learn how to bring their puppets to life through movement and performance, ready to join the magical parade later in the evening.

The workshop is recommended for primary school-aged children and is a wonderful opportunity to get creative during the school holidays.

Meet Nova – The Giant Fire Spirit

As daylight begins to fade, something magical happens.

The giant illuminated Fire Spirit Nova slowly awakens, filling the Bondi Pavilion Courtyard with light, movement and wonder. Towering above the crowd, Nova captivates audiences as she dances through the festival, embodying the warmth and energy of fire.

Families are invited to follow Nova as she journeys from the Bondi Pavilion down to the golden sands of Bondi Beach, where a glowing bonfire will be lit to celebrate the closing of Bondi Festival 2026.

The performance tells a heartwarming story of hope, light and the changing seasons, making it a memorable experience for visitors of all ages.
