Each year on Remembrance Day, Australians pause to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of the men and women who have served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations around the world.

In partnership with the Bondi Junction/Waverley RSL Sub-Branch, the Waverley community will gather at the Memorial Gardens in Waverley Park for a heartfelt service and wreath-laying ceremony at the Waverley Cenotaph. The service begins at 10:45am, leading up to a minute’s silence at 11am — a powerful moment of reflection observed across the nation.

This free community event welcomes everyone — families, students, and residents — to come together to honour those who gave so much for the freedoms we enjoy today. After the service, attendees are invited to join light refreshments and further gatherings at Bondi Junction RSL.

Why This Day Matters for the Next Generation

Remembrance Day is not only about looking back — it’s about helping the next generation understand the importance of peace, courage, and community. By teaching our children to pause and remember, we help ensure that the values of respect, gratitude, and service continue to shape Australia’s future.

Encouraging young people to attend or observe the ceremony is a meaningful way to pass on these lessons and keep the memory of our servicemen and women alive.
