For many families, the move from preschool to primary school is an exciting milestone — but it can also bring a wave of new challenges. Big feelings, changing behaviours, and the uncertainty of a new environment can make this transition overwhelming for both children and parents. That’s why Reddam House Sydney is proud to partner with Kate Broderick, one of Sydney’s most respected voices in early intervention, to help families navigate this important stage with confidence.

Who is Kate Broderick?

Kate Broderick is the Founder and CEO of The Spot Therapy Hub, a leading Sydney practice offering speech pathology and occupational therapy. A mum of four herself, Kate brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work with families. With more than 20 years in practice as both an Occupational Therapist and a Speech Pathologist, she has dedicated her career to empowering children to thrive in their everyday environments.

Under Kate’s leadership, The Spot Therapy Hub has grown into a values-driven, neurodiversity-affirming service. Her team is known for their strengths-based, relationship-focused approach, which supports not just the child, but the whole family. Kate’s passion for sharing knowledge has made her a sought-after speaker and a trusted partner for parents and educators alike.

A Complimentary Event for Local Families

On Wednesday 9 October, Reddam House Sydney Primary School will host the first event in a complimentary three-part series with Kate Broderick. This series has been designed to provide local Eastern Suburbs Early Learning School families with practical tools and reassurance during a time of transition.

At this first session, Kate will share her insights into supporting children as they encounter the “big feelings” and behaviours that so often appear when moving from preschool to primary school. Her guidance will focus on helping families build strategies for resilience, emotional regulation, and confidence — ensuring children are set up to thrive from their very first day.

Why Reddam House Sydney?

At Reddam House Sydney, the school motto “We shall give back” is more than just words — it’s a philosophy that guides everything we do. Hosting this complimentary event is one way we extend our support beyond the classroom, providing families in our community with access to valuable expertise.

From Kindergarten to Year 12, Reddam House combines the best of tradition and innovation in a non-denominational, co-educational environment. With a focus on academic excellence, creativity, and wellbeing, our goal is to nurture each child’s unique potential while equipping them with the skills and confidence to succeed.

Insights from Our Principal

Following Kate’s talk, our Primary Principal, Warren Garratt, will share additional insights into preparing children for a smooth transition to primary school. As an experienced educator and long-serving member of the Reddam community, Warren understands the challenges families face during this period and will provide practical advice for making the journey as positive as possible.

Parents attending the event will also have the opportunity to tour our purpose-built campus, meet members of the teaching team, and see firsthand the warm and inspiring environment we provide for our students.
