Pearls, oysters, river views and fine food. A secret Hawkesbury homestead, the freshest local flavours, the finest Australian pearls, and the people behind them – could this be your dream day out?
An hour north of Sydney, the city falls away and rugged sandstone cliffs rise above glittering, glassy waters. These are the winding estuaries of the Hawkesbury River – rich in natural beauty and the famous home to a bounty of oyster species including the Sydney Rock oyster. If you’re after something a little different this October, this stunning spot is about to host an amazing culinary adventure making its long-awaited NSW debut.
Introducing Pearls and Plates Broken Bay
Pearls and Plates celebrates people, place and produce across three iconic pearling regions. It’s intimate, immersive and unforgettable. After sell-out events in Western Australia’s remote Abrolhos Islands and at Cygnet Bay in WA, Broken Bay Pearl Farm is proud to be bringing Pearls and Plates to NSW on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 October. Set right in the heart of Akoya pearl country, it promises to be truly special.
A Secret Riverside Venue
Your adventure begins at Broken Bay Pearl Farm’s Shellar Door in Mooney Mooney, where you’ll board a boat and cruise past oyster leases and hidden coves to a private, water-access-only homestead owned by one of the Hawkesbury’s longest-standing families. It’s a rustic bush setting tucked deep in the estuary – no roads, no cars, no crowds.
A Six-Course Menu by Acclaimed Chef Guy Jeffreys
WA Chef Guy Jeffreys (former Head Chef of Millbrook Winery and champion of sustainable fine dining) is making a rare NSW appearance to craft a bespoke six-course lunch menu showcasing the region’s produce, including Sydney Rock and Akoya oysters. There will be elegant wine and beverage pairings, all served up at a relaxed long table setting.
Pearls, People and Something to Remember
You’ll meet the pearl farmers behind Australia’s three native species, experience the excitement of a live pearl harvest, and have an opportunity to take home an Australian saltwater pearl of your own. This is fine dining with a difference!
Girls Day Out, Special Occasion, or a Day Date to Remember?
Pearls and Plates is a one-of-a-kind escape into nature, flavour and connection. Whether you’re rounding up the girls or planning a date with someone special, Pearls and Plates Broken Bay is the kind of experience you’ll be talking about weeks later. By the time the day’s over, you’ll already be plotting next year’s visit.
