Exciting things are on the horizon for Randwick City, with big projects given the green light at the June 2025 Randwick Council meeting, held on Tuesday 17 June. From new recreational spaces to upgrades in key community hubs, the Council discussed several initiatives that will benefit local families and active residents.
Cromwell Park chosen as site for new BMX Pump Park in Malabar
A major win for local kids, teens and families—Cromwell Park (North), Malabar, has officially been endorsed as the preferred site for Randwick’s first-ever BMX pump park. Following extensive community consultation, Cromwell Park came out on top, receiving 48% of the 526 public survey responses, compared to 36% for nearby Pioneers Park.
The new pump park will be a purpose-built, fun and safe space for BMX riders, skateboarders, scooter users and mountain bikers. Designed to blend with the natural surroundings and minimise disruption to current park users, it will offer a much-needed recreation zone for young people to stay active and social.
Council has allocated $1.35 million to the project, with design work now underway. Further community consultation will be carried out once concept plans are developed—so stay tuned for updates!
More to come: The Spot and Maroubra Surf Club upgrades
The June meeting also touched on exciting upgrades in two other key locations:
-
The Spot town centre is set for an upgrade, with plans in development to enhance its charm and appeal for locals and visitors alike.
-
A new Maroubra surf club is in the works, ensuring this iconic beachfront hub continues to support lifesaving, community, and recreational activities well into the future.
These projects reflect Randwick Council’s ongoing investment in active lifestyles, community wellbeing, and vibrant public spaces.
