The Heart Foundation, in collaboration with expert trainers from Heart of the Nation, is offering free information sessions to help raise awareness about cardiac arrest and teach lifesaving skills. These sessions focus on two critical abilities: performing CPR and using a defibrillator.
Why Learning CPR is Essential
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a life-saving technique that can make all the difference in an emergency situation. When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, immediate action is crucial. Here are some of the key benefits of knowing CPR:
- Increases Survival Chances: CPR can double or even triple the chances of survival for someone in cardiac arrest. Every minute without CPR reduces the likelihood of survival by 10%, so quick intervention is vital.
- Keeps Blood Flowing to Vital Organs: CPR ensures blood continues to circulate to the brain and other vital organs, reducing the risk of permanent damage.
- Empowers You to Act with Confidence: In an emergency, knowing CPR gives you the confidence to act quickly and effectively, potentially saving a life.
- Reduces the Risk of Brain Damage: The sooner CPR is performed, the better the chance of preventing brain damage caused by lack of oxygen.
- Supports the Use of Defibrillators: Combining CPR with the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) significantly improves survival rates in cases of cardiac arrest.
The goal of these free sessions is to increase community confidence, ensuring that more people can act as first responders in life-threatening situations. By learning CPR and how to use a defibrillator, you’ll be better prepared to step in when needed — potentially saving someone’s life.
Join us at one of the upcoming sessions to gain these essential skills and make a difference in emergency situations. Your knowledge and confidence could be the key to saving a life!
