Join us for the official opening of this new park. There’ll be music, free bike tune-ups, coffee and gelato.
The Drying Green takes its name from the site’s industrial past.
Wool washing was one of the first industries in Green Square and fleeces were spread across grass in the area to dry.
This area of natural wetlands was used by Gadigal people for thousands of generations. Our reimagined wetlands run with harvested stormwater cleansed by streaming through plants.
The park has trees, barbecues, picnic areas, shade structures and lawns for friends and family to gather and play or relax.
You’ll get to see the new solar powered public artwork, Stream by Kerrie Poliness.
We’ve also completed the latest stage of work on Zetland Avenue west and an upgrade of Portman Street.
