For Mums

Mums deserve to be pampered every day, but especially on Mother’s Day!

This year, MimmynVovo is delighted to offer its first Mother’s Day photoshoot experience, designed to capture and celebrate mothers for the incredible women they are.  MimmynVovo is Sydney’s latest photography and creative studio. Located in Rosebery and surrounded by bustling fashion outlets, the venue is fitted out with five incredible sets, each with its own unique theme.  We know that it’s not uncommon for mums to spend most of their time behind the camera, capturing special family moments but missing the opportunity themselves. This is the perfect opportunity to give mum a gift she’ll cherish forever. Starting with an hour of professional hair…

The story of the Anzac biscuit

The Anzac biscuit is a national treasure for Australians and New Zealanders. It’s a recipe shaped by the soldiers who so bravely fought for us in war, and by those back home who rallied behind them. Originally, the Anzac biscuit was designed to travel well over several weeks at sea, so the recipe didn’t feature eggs, golden syrup or coconut. Their incredibly tough consistency and savoury taste meant that they were purely a source of sustenance and not particularly enjoyable. It is said that some soldiers would even crush them before eating to avoid breaking a tooth! The sweet Anzac biscuit…

Monday’s Local Mum, Lauren Briggs

Hi, my name is Lauren Briggs and I am a children’s book author and illustrator.  I find so much inspiration for my storytelling and drawings from the surrounding beaches, parks and wildlife.  My new children’s book, Little Pago is about an endangered sea turtle who mistakes floating plastic for some of his favourite food.  I hope that Little Pago will inspire our next generation to turn the tide on plastic pollution and empower our children to value and protect our marine life and oceans. Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east? I have lived in the Eastern…

Monday’s Local Mum, Elise Clement

My name is Elise, I was born in France and my passion for travel and adventure led me to move to Australia 17 years ago with my then boyfriend, now husband, also French. Together we have a 6-year-old daughter who loves to make fun of our accent! Motherhood was the catalyst for me to start living more intentionally, to make choices that feel better aligned with what’s most important in this phase of my life. After 12 years working in corporate, I decided to change careers shortly after the birth of my daughter in order to support women’s wellbeing and…

Four Fantastic Outdoor Fitness Options in Coogee

Coogee is easy to get to by bus from the city and Bondi Junction, or walk the coast path around from Bondi in the north or Maroubra in the south. If you have to drive, be warned that parking is a real headache on weekends and holidays [there’s still no meters in most streets though]. The promenade is great for walking, cycling and just people-watching: early mornings bring out the boot campers and sand sprinters, beach volleyball is set up on the sand and on the grass in the afternoons there are performers practising slack line walking, drummers, buskers, Latin…
