AusBabysitters helps Eastern Suburbs families find a babysitter or nanny who lives nearby. We're Matt and Kelly Lewandowski, two Sydney parents with a toddler, a baby and no family close enough to call on a Saturday night. We built the site because we needed it.
When we went looking for a babysitter, the choice was a Facebook group or an app that charged a subscription before you could send a message. We paid for two of the apps and found someone good almost straight away, then kept paying membership fees for what turned out to be a handful of messages. So we built the version we wanted.
Here's what families can do on it:
Search your suburb and see the nearest sitters first. Each profile shows their experience, whether they want babysitting or nanny work, their hourly rate and reviews from other families, and many include a short intro video.
Message a sitter directly and sort out the details between you, with no middleman and no booking fee.
Post a job ad with your days, your kids and your suburb, and nearby sitters can reply to you.
Use it on the website or in the app for iPhone and Android.
Here's what makes it different. Families pay nothing to use it, with no subscription and no booking fees, and sitters keep everything they earn. When a profile has a verified badge, it means we've checked that sitter's photo ID and Working With Children Check ourselves. When we haven't checked a sitter yet, their profile says so, so you know to ask to see their WWCC.
As of October 2026, 220 sitters are active within 15 km of Bondi Junction, and 49 of them are verified.
