Looking for a meaningful summer activity the whole family can enjoy? Head down to Coogee Beach on Sunday 18 January 2026 and step inside the Ocean Action Pod — a pop-up interactive experience that turns learning about ocean conservation into a fun and inspiring day by the sea.

Perfect for curious kids, teens and adults alike, the Ocean Action Pod invites families to explore the big issue of plastic pollution through hands-on activities, colourful displays and engaging multimedia experiences. No lectures, no pressure — just practical ideas and eye-opening moments that show how small everyday actions can make a real difference.

Inside the pod, children can get up close with creative displays made from plastic debris collected from the ocean, helping them understand where rubbish ends up and why it matters. There are short educational films, interactive exhibits and age-appropriate activities designed to spark conversations long after you’ve left the beach.

Kids (and parents!) can also put their knowledge to the test with the Ocean Action Quiz, making learning feel more like a game than a lesson. It’s a great opportunity for children to become “ocean experts” for the day and feel empowered to help protect marine life.

The Ocean Action Pod has been created by the Total Environment Centre and brought to the community by Randwick City Council as part of its Marine and Coastal Discovery Program. The experience is designed to be welcoming, informative and inspiring — whether you stay for 10 minutes or spend the afternoon exploring.

Best of all, bookings are not required, making it an easy addition to a beach day, picnic or coastal walk.
